GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR TOUR
Encounter two of the Kimberley’s greatest icons in one day – Purnululu (the Bungle Bungles) and Lake Argyle. Begin with a two hour scenic flight enjoying a bird’s eye view of the World Heritage listed Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle (including the diamond mine) and the Ord River irrigation area. Take in the breathtaking scenery of the Carr Boyd Ranges, the Osmand Ranges, the Ord River and the Bow River.
The countryside of the eastern Kimberley is colourful and vast, so viewing it from the comfort of your air-conditioned, high wing aircraft allows for a truly unique perspective.
We’ll land back in Kununurra and board a coach to Lake Argyle, travelling through stunning eastern Kimberley scenery and stopping at the historic Durack Homestead Museum before saying ‘ahoy’ to our Captain and heading out on the water.
Get ready for some good times and tan lines as we cruise through ‘the Heads’, visiting an array of wildlife along the way. Sit back and relax as you learn the colourful history of Lake Argyle and its surrounding areas.
Finally pull up as the sun sets and the sky turns orange, we’ll raise our glasses to an unforgettable day in the eastern Kimberley with complimentary champagne, beer and nibbles.
The coach will drop you back to your Kununurra accommodation at around 7pm.
Includes: Complimentary afternoon tea with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Average Duration: Flight-2.5 hours, Cruise-6 hours
- The flight and cruise can be taken on separate days.
- Durack Homestead Museum is closed between October-May.
- We specialise in observing wildlife, but due to the nature of wild animals it cannot be guaranteed you will see all that is described in our services.
Imagine living in a place where crocodiles outnumber humans; where you’re hours from the coast, but the sea is your front yard (an inland sea, that is); where flocks of birds can number into the tens of thousands; and where each day’s sunset has the potential to be the best you’ve ever seen.
When Greg began operating in 1999, he knew he’d never tire of showing this incredible part of the world to others. Two decades (and thousands of guests later) Lake Argyle Cruises remains the number one choice for exploring this magnificent part of the Kimberley.

Dress ‘Kimberley casual’ – shorts, t-shirt and sandals. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, camera, towel and swimwear. If you are sensitive to the cold, bring a light jacket to wear while we are motoring. Warm clothing may be required from June to August.
“I booked a cruise called Best of lake argyle and I tell you what we went from one end to the other ,left to right and every where in between finishing off with a swim and a beautiful lakeargyle sun set with a glass of champagne. The new boat is amazing with a very easy to use front swim deck the lowers into water and a ramp ladder that everyone found easy to use. Greg’s knowledge of lake argyle is the best around. Courtney in the front office and do’er of everything else was fantastic to deal with and nothing was hassle. Lots of food on board and we even had local produce water melon and rock melon for days. Tea and coffee was available and easy to make your own while the boat was travelling.
Greg pointed out lots of birds and a couple of fresh waters crocodiles.
Family friendly too
I drove my self to lake argyle but there was a bus available to book a transfer on if you didn’t have a car.
What a wonderful part of the world you live in and will definitely come again when I’m back at lake argyle”
“Yesterday I took the 6hr tour of Lake Argyle with Greg. 2 companies with similar names can be confusing but this tour was superb. Lunch rolls, tea coffee biscuits, fresh local fruit, and drinks and snacks at sunset. Great value, excellent info and Greg was a great host. He knows his stuff.”
“This place was just incredible. Greg was a fantastic tour guide, his knowledge of the area was very impressive. We done the half day Best of Lake Argyle cruise which included a swim and watching the sunset. Worth every $ and would gladly do it again. Thoroughly recommend this tour and this company. Outstanding.”

Yes, both on board our boats and at our office.
Certainly, we do have freshwater crocodiles in Lake Argyle but these creatures don’t actively hurt humans. We swim in the deeper parts of Lake Argyle where they frequent less.
Lake Argyle is 70kms from Kununurra. The drive should take approx 50 minutes, but we recommend giving yourself an hour travel time.
Certainly is, Lake Argyle Road is sealed the whole way. There are some spots you will need to slow down due to the condition of the road and you do need to check the road conditions in the ‘wet season’.
It will be dark by the time this cruise finishes. We advise to pay extra attention on the road as there is stray wildlife. We also advise to drink responsibly on the cruise.
