SUNSET MAGIC2019-04-03T10:36:28+08:00

As the old saying goes, “red sky at night, sailors’ delight” and there’s no better way to experience a breathtaking Lake Argyle sunset than out on the water! On our popular sunset magic cruise, we’ll explore the rugged northern end of Lake Argyle while navigating through some of the lake’s 90 islands and inlets. Our Skipper will entertain and inform with commentary on the natural history and development of Lake Argyle, The Ord River Irrigation System and the Aquaculture Industry. You’ll encounter Rock Wallabies, Crocodiles, Wallaroos (Euros) and the diverse array of birdlife that call Lake Argyle home. You’ll be delighted and awed by the Archer Fish that shoot water up at your hand with amazing precision. You’ll watch a Catfish feeding frenzy (also known by the fancier term of ‘Silver Cobbler’) and perhaps you’ll even be enticed to come back out on one of our fishing trips. As the sun sinks behind the glorious Carr Boyd Ranges, you’ll enjoy a complimentary drink and a light snack to make the most of this magic time of day. With rugged red cliffs reflecting into the blue water, Lake Argyle is the ultimate place to catch the last golden rays of the Kimberley sun.

Includes: Complimentary afternoon tea with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Average Duration: 3.5 hours

Note: We specialise in observing wildlife, but due to the nature of wild animals it cannot be guaranteed you will see all that is described in our services.

The Durack Homestead Museum is closed between October-April.

Imagine living in a place where crocodiles outnumber humans; where you’re hours from the coast, but the sea is your front yard (an inland sea, that is); where flocks of birds can number into the tens of thousands; and where each day’s sunset has the potential to be the best you’ve ever seen.

When Greg began operating in 1999, he knew he’d never tire of showing this incredible part of the world to others. Two decades (and thousands of guests later) Lake Argyle Cruises remains the number one choice for exploring this magnificent part of the Kimberley.

Our fleet of purpose-built cruise vessels offer comfortable seating and unobstructed views, immersing you into the breathtaking landscape that the Eastern Kimberley is renowned for. Our team’s passion and knowledge, together with our fantastic products have earned us the Holy Grail for any tour company – a five star rating and Certificate of Excellence on TripAdvisor.

Whether you’re spotting for wildlife during one of our cruises, hiring a dinghy and throwing in a line, drifting across the water on a stand-up paddle board, or soaking in the magic of an East Kimberley sunset, you’ll experience the heart and soul of Lake Argyle with us, Lake Argyle Cruises!

Dress ‘Kimberley casual’ – shorts, t-shirt and sandals. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, camera, towel and swimwear. If you are sensitive to the cold, bring a light jacket to wear while we are motoring. Warm clothing may be required from June to August.

“There are 2 companies with very similar names offering cruises on Lake Argyle – this is the original company, NOT the one that operates out of the caravan park.

The staff here are fantastic with so much knowledge about the area. Their boats have wide open sides so you can see clearly throughout the trip. They offer a great cruise and it’s well worth going out with Greg and his staff.”

“The Sunset cruise is such a treat! We’ve done it twice and sent multiple visitors on it too. An absolutely wonderful way to spend an afternoon”

“This cruise was truly amazing! The lake in all it’s glory is spectacular. With two swim stops, fish feeding and spotting local wildlife you couldn’t ask for more. Our guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable teaching us about the lake and it’s history. Sunset in the water with beers and a pool noodle a highlight of an amazing cruise. Floating dips and cheese a wonderful addition to a perfect afternoon. Highly recommend!”

“There is no way to explain this place. The only way is to go out on one of Greg’s tours and witness it for yourself. Gregs knowledge of this place would be up there with the best. Sitting in the lake with a cold beer at sunset is one of the most brilliant things we have done.”

“Family of 6….went on this cruise and was unanimously voted as the best thing we have ever done as a family. Greg was amazing….the most beautiful experience.”

“You cannot go past Captain Greg and the opportunity to see the majestic sights of the Ord River. It really is a must do and Lake Argyle Cruises is def the way to do it. Having previously lived in Kununurra I thought I knew a bit about the Lake and its history – omg – nothing compared to Captain Greg 🙂 The Mountain of Knowledge on the history and wildlife of Lake Argyle and surrounds.
Scenery was so fantastic it lives in your mind for days. Sunset was a constantly changing mix of colours and to see it set behind the islands of Lake Argyle was a treat that will remain with me forever. This really is a MUST Do Tour :)”
